Life in Seattle has been amazing. It has felt like forever since I last sat down and took the time to write and reflect on everything in my world. And I’ve missed you so much my dears! I missed returning to the blog and updating you on my adventures, but I’ve been quite busy these days as I’m currently rehearsing several parts for The Nutcracker and also working on getting through my last year of high school. While my days are long and strenuous, being here has been so rewarding. The classes and rehearsals are challenging but I feel my mind and body getting stronger.
As I approach this Nutcracker season, I hope to grow even more and to enjoy every moment of performing with my friends. And I think the hard part is over now; we’re finishing up our rehearsal process in the studios and headed to the theater soon so it’s time to finally enjoy the stage and the costumes and the makeup!
. . . . . ◟੭
I finally feel settled into my new life in this city. Moving away was a big transition, and the first couple weeks of living here were an out-of-body experience. Everything in my life was different. A new place to live, new neighbors, new roads- It all seemed unreal to me how I got to this point. I can’t quite place when it started to feel normal, but I’ve gotten into the groove of my day-to-day life and I’ve been feeling a better sense of balance since I started to just take it one day at a time. I figured that’s how I should be living too- not in the future or ruminating on the past, but knowing that the current moment is what matters.
This is the first year of living on my own, and I’ve been learning a lot about myself as I’m emerging into adulthood.
I’ve been eighteen for almost two months now and so far it has been a thrill. I’ve been making more of my own decisions and deciding what I want to do with my time. I’ve also been thinking a lot about my identity and what makes me powerful. Something I learned pretty quickly after moving here was that most of my power comes from my independence. I think it’s a pretty liberating feeling being on my own, and I can’t wait to see how the rest of the year will go as I dig deeper into who I am.
Thanks for sticking around. I know it’s been a while since I last posted and I appreciate you reading and coming along with me on this journey! Happy November •°. *࿐
